Obverse: In the center there is the Ashanti gold weight, used in weighing gold dust. On either side of weights of the denomination in two lines: 2 – 5, below the inscription: FRANCS. The edge of the coin the inscription in a semicircle: BANQUE CENTRALE (at the top), ETATES DE L'AFRIQUE DE L'OUEST (at the bottom).
