Description
Millennium (Millennium) is a unit of time equal to 1000 years or 10 centuries.
According to the common Western calendar (the Gregorian calendar), it was determined to start an account with 1. Thus each period of 1,000 years concludes with a year with three zeroes, e.g. the first thousand years and contains 1,000 th year. However, there are two points of view about what should be the Millennium in practice. Many countries have legally adopted ISO 8601 and use the astronomical calendar, where the year counting starts at 0. Thus, when using this calendar, the Millennium starts at x000 and contains x999 at the end of the period. In this order of chronology, the onset of the third Millennium occurred between 31 December 1999 and 1 January 2000. In recent years, was a popular debate about the celebration of the Millennium in 2000, where it was argued that the beginning of this year, it is important to understand (and celebrate) as the beginning of the new Millennium.
