The arch in St. Louis (eng. Gateway Arch), also known as the "Gateway to the West" memorial, which is part of Jeffersonville expenselog national memorial, and hallmark St. Louis, Missouri, USA. It was designed by Finnish-American architect Eero Saarinen in 1947. Its height is 192 meters at its highest point, the width of its base is also 192 meters. Thus the arch is the tallest monument in the USA. Its construction began February 12, 1963 and was completed October 28, 1965. The monument was opened to visitors on 24 July 1967.
