Martin van Buren (05.12.1782 — 24.07.1862) — politician, 8th President of the United States.
The future President was born into a poor family of immigrants from Holland. He is the only President of the United States, whose native language is not English. Also van Buren is the only President born on the territory of independent States, and not in the territory of the English colonies.
After graduating from high school in Kinderhook, van Buren came to office to learn to be a lawyer. In 1803 he received permission to work in the court, from that time began his successful career of a lawyer.
In 1812, van Buren won election to the Senate of new York, and in 1821-m - was one of two senators from the state of new York.
In 1831, Andrew Jackson appoints van Buren Ambassador to great Britain, but the Congress does not consent to this appointment.
