Coin from the series "Native American", dedicated to the history of relations between native American settlers and the Indian tribes of America.
Sacagawea is depicted on the obverse of each coin in this series - the Indian Shoshone, sister of the leader of Camerata Shoshone who helped Lewis and Clark in the exploration of the vast lands of the American continent. She was the guide and translator when dealing with Indian tribes. Unfortunately, there is little reliable historical information about Sacagawea, but her image firmly entrenched in the history of the expedition of Lewis and Clark, and throughout American history as a whole.
