Obverse: In the center – the coat of arms: a crowned Polish eagle, near the right leg of eagle – sign of the mint of Warsaw (M/W), under the eagle the year of issue. The circular inscription above: RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA; circular inscription on the bottom that indicates the denomination: 5 ZLOTYCH.
Reverse: In the Central disk in the foreground depicts the Bydgoski channel to the urban landscape. In the upper part of the coin, along the rim – the name of the coin in Polish: KANAL BYDGOSKI. In the lower part of the coin – the decorative elements in the form of parallel lines.
Bydgoski canal (Pol. Kanał Bydgoski) is a canal in North-Central Poland, connecting Vistula river basins (through the inflow of the Brda) and Odra (via the tributaries of the Noteć and Warta). Has a length of 27 km (between the cities of Bydgoszcz and nakło), a depth of 2.5 m.
