The pend (bapindo) – people living in the South-East of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (27 October 1971 and 17 may 1997, Zaire). The number of the Pende, along with the related people of the Congo and other 5 million people (estimated more 1983). The Pende tribe consists of various groups, divided by areas, of which two main inhabit the province of Quill (West pend) and Kasai (Eastern Pende). Some clans of the tribe of the pend are controlled by leaders whose primary function is to mediate between the tribe and ancestral spirits.
