100 years of women's suffrage
In 1916, in the provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta for the first time most women got the right to vote in provincial elections, thereby paving the way for guaranteeing voting rights for all women in Canada. The Royal mint of Canada decided to mark the celebration of this important women's achievements, by producing a memorable-the everyday coins of 1 dollar.
Obverse: effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the accompanying labels on the left and right respectively: "ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA".
Reverse: in the center of the coin there is an image of a woman who proudly exercise their right to vote under the admiring gaze of his daughter (an important feature according to the designer of the coin).
